The giving tree.

The giving tree is our class tree where we have requests for materials which we need for lessons in our classroom. It is in the large shadow box which says parents corner in the hallway by the children’s cubicles. If there is an item which you have at home or could buy for our classroom, please remove the leaf from the tree and place it in the basket. Then, have your child bring the item to our classroom.  The donations are tax deductible, and the tax id will be given to you for your gifts.  This project has reminded me of The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. This is a great book about happiness, love, various things we would do for people we love, the value and consequences of giving, and concepts of selfishness and selflessness.

Our class would like thank the Hilliard family for their altruism.  They have made a donation of felt, Velcro, index cards, filler paper, construction paper, post it notes, envelopes, markers, and stickers.

Thank you to each family for your support. We look forward to growing as a warm community.
