We Love Singing… Mon, 26 Jan 2015 20:02:51 +0000 Read more]]> Something great about our Toddler Class is that they love to sing and dance, no matter the tune! I had a parent to request lyrics for some of the songs that we sing throughout the day…below are some of our most common everyday songs! Enjoy!

Blessing- Before Snack and Lunch (tune: Are You Sleeping?)

Hands together, hands together to say the Grace, to say the Grace

I put my hands together to say the Grace to say the Grace

God our Father, God our Father, once again, once again, once again

Thank you for our blessings, thank you for our blessings

Amen, Amen

Handwashing Song (tune: Are You Sleeping?)

Tops and bottoms,

Tops and bottoms

In between

In between

All around your hands

All around your hands

Now you’re clean

Now you’re clean

Clean Up-We don’t have a clean up song but we do sing this after the bell is rung and they need to put their materials away and come to the line

Everybody come and sit on the line

Everybody come and sit on the line

Not on the ceiling, not on the door

Everybody come and sit on the line

Criss-cross, applesauce criss-cross, applesauce

Hands in your lap, hands in your lap

Criss-cross, applesauce criss-cross, applesauce

Hands in your lap, hands in your lap

Today we made yummy and healthy strawberry and banana smoothies, which the kids really excited to taste! We enjoyed walking downtown Main Street to see some of the events happening during Christmasville. Fire Thu, 16 Oct 2014 00:34:56 +0000 Read more]]> Today we enjoyed a special visit from some of the Rock Hill firefighters! They talked to us about staying safe when there is a fire and what to do if there is a fire at our house. Firefighter Chris even put on his firefighter uniform for us to see how he changes from a regular person to a firefighter. Even though he had on that heavy uniform and oxygen mask we learned to not to be afraid of him because he was the same person. After discussing about fire safety, we got the chance to look and walk through the fire truck! The kids had a great time with learning about different parts of the fire truck and seeing the lights flash and siren blaring as the firefighters drove away!!! Much thanks to them!!

Finally Friday… Fri, 10 Oct 2014 17:48:04 +0000 Read more]]> We had a great day with Ms. Dawkins, one of our teachers from Encore!! We enjoyed a sweet oranges brought in by our friend, Faye! The kids are doing an awesome job with learning how to do things on their own. Today many of them chose to peel their oranges or “cuties” by themselves! They absolutely love being independent! This week we learned a little bit about fire safety. We learned that we stay away and do not touch things that are hot, for example, the stove or oven, matches or candles. We read about about firefighters and how they save and help those with fires in there homes or buildings! We are still working on our sounds, “m”, “b” and “a”. We are working on tracing them and using them in our sign language! Another new lesson this week was our “Five Little Pumpkins” song! We love to use a Pumpkin puppets to go along with it! I will send home a copy of this song sometime next week!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and don’t forget their is NO SCHOOL for students on Monday, but we will have Parent Teacher conferences!!

Today My Lesson… Tue, 30 Sep 2014 17:50:07 +0000 Read more]]> Today we received a new lesson on the “m” sound! The letter m is somewhat diffculut to make in sign language for some of my friends, but they know that it is different from “a” and “b.” Every day I assess them on these sounds and to see if they understand that they all make a different sound and are different letters. Remember we only teach sounds, then the recognition of the letters come later on. So don’t worry if they don’t know the letter, it is completely fine!

Eula worked on the pink tower and brown stairs together (an extension of both lessons) and she worked on the teddy emotions outline.

Josiah worked on the rolling placemats and pouring from a thermos to a cup.

Max worked on the sorting and counting bears by color.

Gavin worked on the knobbed and knobbless cylinders.

Faye worked on a new lesson, the geoboards (using rubber bands to make shapes).

Abby worked on a new lesson, counting numbers and placing them into the correct spots (numbers outline).

Nolan worked on pouring water from a thermos to a cup, knobbless cylinders, and tracing the “b” sound.

Violet worked on the color tablets with the Spanish words, azul, rojo and amarillo, and the matching pictures to pictures.

Fantastic Friday! Sat, 27 Sep 2014 00:12:25 +0000 Read more]]> We had a very good and peaceful work cycle today! Many of my friends did a great working on some of their favorite lessons, such as the knobbed and knobbless cylinders, tracing the “a” and “b” sounds, sorting bears by color and numbers and writing with the shaving cream! The toddlers stay busy and enjoy working on lessons!

Parents, continue to praise and encourage your child whenever they do something positive. The smallest thing makes them feel special inside. Give your child the opportunity to do things themselves! Let take the dishes out of the dishwasher, have them to wipe up a spill, allow them to check the mailbox and bring in, have them pour their own juice and etc. Believe me they are able to do all those things that I mentioned above, if given the chance! They love helping, especially helping each other!

Next week we are learning the “m” sound!!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

We Had.. Thu, 25 Sep 2014 18:52:23 +0000 Read more]]> …a great day! Today was picture day and it took some of my friends awhile to warm up to the photographer but eventually they all took some good pictures! We didn’t get much working down with our work cycle, but we did learn a little more about the “b” sound. I showed them all a lesson and a review on the sandpaper letters “a” and “b” sounds! We are also using our sign language to learn the sounds. You can ask your child to show you the “a” sound and “b” sound! Some time during your day, ask your child “a” is for….apple, Appalosa, ambulance, alligator. These are all different things that my friends bought in for Wonder Rug. Don’t forget to let your child bring in something that makes the “b”sound (bus, book, bug, brush, bubbles, etc.)

Spanish:  In Spanish class, we are learning our colors. We have started with our primary colors, which are azul (blue), rojo (red) and amarillo (yellow). We have introduced a new color, verde (green).  When you are at home, in the car or out and about, ask your child what color is that, not in English but in Spanish. We try to use our Spanish as much as possible. We have learned Gracias (thank you),  De Nada (you’re welcome), adios (bye)  and hola (hello). Try to use those words at home, too!

A special thank you to Mr. Ebersold (Nolan’s dad) for our class small set of teeth.  This will be a new lesson on our Practical Life shelf called Tooth Brushing. Instead of the GIGANTIC one we have, the toddlers can now see what it is like to brush their own teeth with a smaller one, so A BIG THANK YOU TO HIS DAD!!

Doesn’t it look so real!!

Have great evening!!
